Day Habilitation
At D&S Community Services, we believe all individuals deserve daily opportunities to maximize their potential and learn skills that promote independence in their community. D&S Day Habilitation programs in Texas, Tennessee, and Kentucky provide community integration, employment training and other meaningful and productive activities in various settings. Activities are tailored to align with each individual’s plan that builds on their strengths, talents, and skills.
Independent Living Training
The D&S Day Habilitation Program provides skills training classes and other opportunities for individuals to improve the degree of their independence in the community. Skills training classes to improve activities of daily living include:- Personal grooming and hygiene
- Money management
- Reading and language
- Proper nutrition and exercise
- Meal preparation and cooking
- Use of public transportation
- Safety
- Communication
- Etiquette
Employment Training
The Day Habilitation programs work in conjunction with the Supported Employment program to provide individuals job readiness training. Training may include opportunities to work on a supervised lawn care enclave, perform piecework assembly tasks, or participate in janitorial training at the Day Habilitation facilities. Each activity and experience is used to help prepare individuals to work in the community.Social Skill Development
The D&S Day Habilitation Program sponsors numerous social events to help individuals develop appropriate social skills and learn to better interact with others. Individuals actively participate in the planning, setup, and promotion of each of these special events.- Monthly birthday celebrations

- Holiday parties and dances
- Planned outings to local parks, recreation centers, movie theaters, and libraries
Experiencing Art
Many individuals need different outlets to express themselves. We like to foster these needs through a variety of activities that focus on self-expression. These activities include:- Music
