Her first introduction into the IDD field was in 2000 as a Direct Support Professional. Her experience as a DSP inspired her to continue to learn more about the field which led her to becoming a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional. After 10 years as a QIDP, Lakrisa was promoted to Program Director and then quickly promoted to Executive Director.
Lakrisa received her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development in 2011 from Midwestern State University. Lakrisa is very passionate about the work she does with the individuals and staff at D&S. She enjoys seeing the individuals happy and cared for and wants to continue making a difference in the lives of others. When she first started her career almost 16 years ago it was just to get her through college. As she grew and really learned the different aspects of the industry it became her passion. Even though some parts of the job can be challenging, she has a great desire to continue to help people achieve all that they can and be their biggest advocate throughout their journey.
Lakrisa loves to laugh & have fun! She enjoys cycling, jogging, cooking, gardening, and reading.
