With a hop, a skip and a powerful leap, Charlie Simpkins soared to Olympic glory 24 years ago in Spain. He earned a silver medal in the triple jump in the Summer Games, which were held in Barcelona. Quick action and keeping a level head during a disaster was exactly what Ann Benford did in the face of the Memorial Day floods that hit Brenham, Texas.
