D&S has recently embarked on a training initiative to provide home managers with a variety of tools, information and skills which are designed to enhance their leadership and management abilities.
Home managers have a challenging responsibility. They are responsible for managing day to day activities related to providing a safe, secure and comfortable home for the people we support. That is huge! I mean, when we think about ‘managing’ our own personal homes, the list is endless. Imagine the same for a home with additional duties because of state regulations, multiple personal preferences and schedules, staffing needs…the list goes on and on!
We know home managers are tasked with being exceptional leaders, organized, problem solvers, effective communicators and the ability to display effective time management, just to name a few of the many desired traits. In addition, they are often faced with managing conflict and stress.
Because of these many responsibilities which require many skills, Home Manager Training was developed and implemented to include a blended curriculum of online courses paired with classroom sessions.
Overall, the training is designed to support home managers so they can lead their teams to create a foundation which promotes an environment that is happy, safe and familiar which makes the saying “there is no place like home” truly resonate for those who live there.
