Quick action and keeping a level head during a disaster was exactly what Ann Benford did in the face of the Memorial Day floods that hit Brenham, Texas. Ann is a Direct Support Professional who provides care for four gentlemen in Brenham.
Although the storms were predicted, Ann had no idea that water was building rapidly outside the home that day. When she opened the door to check the weather, flood water came rushing in. She quickly bundled the men up and drove them to higher ground several blocks away.
She then walked back to the house in torrential rain to get her own vehicle, picked up the men from the van and drove them to her home where she fed, clothed, and housed the men for two days. It takes a very special person to go above and beyond the call of duty all the while staying cool, calm, and collected … that’s Ann!
The men are still not back in the home from the flood damage but Ann is caring for them in a rental property until the proper repairs can be done to their home. Going that extra mile is what sets Ann apart and makes her exemplary. Way to go above and beyond.
